It is hard to believe it is already the year 2553 in Thailand! I'm not sure where 2552 went. This is a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to many of you. I am happy to tell you I am enjoying some time in the USA. The last few months in Bangkok were so busy I had a hard time keeping up with my emails, so I do apologize. The quick update is that I arrived in California just in time to spend Christmas with my family and have a few weeks of rest and vacation there before flying to Birmingham, AL (right in the middle of some record-breaking cold weather!). I will spend about three months in Birmingham and hope to catch up with all of you while I'm home. I'm still getting organized, but I know that I will be at a few missions conferences so far. I've printed those dates for you below, but if I don't see you there, I will have plenty of other time to catch up over a meal or coffee. In early April, I'll make my way back to California to spend a few weeks with my family and friends there before returning to Thailand for the next chapter. I'm really excited to tell you all more about what I'll be involved with when I go back "home" to Bangkok.
Schedule
Jan 30, Feb. 1-3 Covenant Presbyterian Church Missions Conference, Birmingham
Jan 31 - Feb 1 Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church, Birmingham
Feb. 21-23 Christ Covenant Church, Charlotte
Feb 26-28 Lake Crest Presbyterian Church, Birmingham
Praises
* For safe travel from Bangkok to the U.S and for a wonderful and refreshing Christmas with family in California and encouraging times with old friends
* For Aut, who found a job in Bangkok. Thank you for all your prayers for her.
* For Kai, Yut's husband in the community of PooThong, who stated he wanted to "follow Christ" in December right before I left for furlough
* For a new partnership between UWM and a network of house churches (called Santisuk Chumchon Churches) that will begin next year with the goal of starting new churches and transforming poor communities.
Prayer Request
* Pray for my next three months in the U.S. Pray that God would use this time to give me refreshment and encouragement. Pray that I would be a blessing to all those I talk with while I am home.
* Pray for the community of PooThong and the new house church that has begun there. Pray that God would continue to grow them to maturity and raise up a leader for their church. Pray for Kai's growth as a new Christian.
* Pray for the UWM team in Bangkok as many have been sick and struggling with financial deficits.
I can't say thank you enough for everything you do for me. Your prayers and encouragement have been enormous over these past two years. I'm excited to sit down with you and tell you more about what God is doing through your giving and prayers in Thailand.
