October Update

We are in the middle of record breaking flooding here in Thailand. Bangkok has been safe so far, but many parts of the country have been heavily hit with nearly 300 deaths in the past few months. The first month of our Thai-American internship has gone really well. It is busy, but fun and rewarding. The interns are adjusting well to living in a Thai slum and building good relationships with neighbors. So far they have received training on sharing the gospel, living in community, preparing their testimony and we are in the middle of a three week training in discipleship. To provide the interns with a platform for being in community and participating in some community development, we have begun a 4 week English program for kids in Samakki Pattana. We teach some English, some songs, and have 15 minutes of teaching on "life-skills" for kids, which includes an introduction to teachings from the bible. The administrative transition from UWM to Servant Partners is now complete. 88% of my monthly support budget has been realized.

✴Pray for the many adjustments of the new interns as they learn to work
together as a team and build relationships in their new community.
✴Pray for P’ Kaew and the Serimin project. For the new housing project to be
opened soon and for God to begin working in the hearts of those He is leading
to relocate there. Pray for P’ Kaew’s son, Oui, to adjust well to his new home.
✴Pray for the ongoing projects and educational/health initiatives with Siam
Care. Pray that God will use those events to help people live healthier
lifestyles and to build relationships between the community and the church.
✴Pray for wisdom as we consider new community transformation initiatives,
including addressing citizenship issues in several of our communities and
building a community center in Phoothong.
✴Pray for Jin as she travels home to the Northeast part of Thailand to care for
her aging parents. Pray she will find a new Christian fellowship in the area.
✴Praise God we are seeing the multiplication of small discipleship groups
meeting regularly in our churches. Pray for wisdom as we develop a support
structure for our discipleship leaders that will encourage them without
adding more burdensome meetings to their already busy schedules.
